So i'm new and i tried to search to no avail in regards to this. I bought a NIIIIICE set of 88 SI seats from a wrecked car and tried to install them but apparently its not that easy


I know the 89 + have the buckles attached to the seat rails (88s dont) so i tried to swap rails but the bolt pattern is about 1in short.

Has anybody tried this or am i just SOL? I read some posts about people swapping foam but it looks like the 88's seats are slightly different ie the pan on the bottom looks bigger vs the 89+'s

your seats would fit into both of my 89's... afaik they didn't change the floor pans untill the 90's model.

No they won't, the 88 is the outcast and they will not fit the 89!

To the OP, sell me your seats!!

 

is it differen't for hatch's? in my hatch the seatbelts are still bolted to the floor

well since i can only post 5 times a day i'm back ...

First off thanks to Mog for calling me seems like i'm SOL though.

I'm sure i could make them fit but by the time i was done i'd probably just want to light the seats on fire for pleasure.


Having said that i'm going to try a a foam / cover swap from the 88 seats onto my 89 seats. My only concern in doing so is that the pan for the 88's seems to be slightly differnt (deeper) thant he 89's. Which honestly isnt a problem since i can cut the foam. Do you guys think its doable?

So you guys want the 88 seats? Sweet find me a set of 89-91's in equal or greater condition and i'll trade you

 

Sooo nobodys sure if the 88's foan / fabric will go onto a 89 for sure? I'm having second thoughts i'd really hate to ruin the 88's since they are so clean.

Nooooo, that would be blasphemy!! Can you take any pics of those 88 seats?

 

I can just not sure when... I'm currently at work then have class tonight so i'll try to get them up here before class if not after. The only flaw is that a small amount of foam from the drivers seat bolster is missing ie common problem. But its been re stiched rather well and all the fabric is all still there. Seats also were recently cleaned as well. The wrecked car had under 120k on the odo so not like they saw much use. Theres way more padding on them than my 89's.

I really dont want to sell these. If the foam swap for sure wont work i'll trade them.


So again does anybody know if the foam swap would work? Maybe somebody unbiased who doesnt own an 88 lol j/k

Sorry for no pics yet. My dad apparently deceided to bury them behind all his booshit in the garage so i'll try to tomorrow. Just think of perfect seats aside from slight loss of bolster foam thats been re stitched. You cant tell unless you touch it.

That said.... GET ME SOME 89-91's

sorry bout them not fitting, if you decide to sell them ill dirve to your house and pick em up. i swear!

 

i am selling them .... asking price 89-91 crx SI seats.... no rips . Pics hopefully tonight if my class doesnt run to late. I'll put up a for trade thread after my trial deal is over.

If i sell them for cash i'm going to over charge since it took me so long to find a clean set . I know its stupid but lol maybe i'm just bitter or something.

I'm going to re measure them again tonight to see if the foam swap will work. Sooo if u want 88's u know what to do.

Just make sure it's in the FS/WTT thread at the top of the page, otherwise it's going to get locked.

I'm going to take the seats out of my 89 tomorrow to show the difference in the pan. I measured and i don't think its going to work. I'll need to cut the foam of the 88's and I'd hate to ruin them when somebody else could use them. So yeah i put them in that thread you guys recommended

 

LOL, dude, this is crazy! I have the exact same set, I pulled them out of 89 CRX Si, hoping to be able to put them in my 88 hatch. Without the welder, grinding wheel, and some scrap metal - I don't see it happening. I wish you best of luck and keep us posted. Could you add an extra pic of bottom pans? I wanna take a look at mine and see if these are the same.

P.S. Maybe we should all get together and list all of the seat options available for 4-gen hatch? I bet that would make many people happy. Later.
