Default 1997 Project R, Im tempted.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...:1123

Has anyone seen this? The lack of feedback for the seller, and lack of detailed information has scared me a little bit, but this seems like a pretty good deal considering all the pieces are pretty much there. Im thinking about selling the gsr and getting this, driving the moms Monte Carlo around for a few months... I've always wanted a 97, He wants 5 grand.. What do you guys think about this???

Ask the guy to supply more pictures to you, with other than a camera phone. Ask for pictures of the engine bay, driver side door jam, center arm rest, a better one of the gauges and whatever else you think may be necessary.

I'm curious what # 1997 this one is.

Depending on the damage, and if you get a little better price it might be an easy fix and a steal. Probe the owner.

There was a thread here last week on that one. The thread was deleted by mods for some reason. There is severe rear-end damage. All sides of car have some damage. If you can do your own unit-body re-construction it may be worth it, but if you'd have to pay a body shop then she's only good for parts. Sad.

I think this may be #508, one of the very last 97s. VIN on ebay is the 5th last. I asked the OP in the deleted thread to confirm the # but didn't get an answer before it was deleted.

Edit: Seller just emailed me, it is #508.

No kidding, the guy made it sound like it was still very drivable and mainly front end damage as in the pictures on ebay.. I asked for a bunch of new detailed pics, and cant wait to see those!!!! Are we all sure this is the car? My night is ruined, my gsr was about 5 seconds from going on craigslist..

yeah, 5k may be a bit much unless the motor and trans is good, but that frame is probly bent. It will never be like new again.

i also remember the thread. It should be here somewhere. The thread showed those pics. I think there were a lot of people asking the seller about parting out the car because of the damage.

What I'm wondering is, what the hell was he doing to the engine that it needed to be rebuilt at 45k AND 98k??

It's a 'she' that the car belongs to, and that's pretty deceptive of her to only post those pics in the ad.

Yeah thats what I asked them, and never really got an answer, I dont think they are people I want to purchase anything from, the pics being so misleading and all, is bull ****. BUt as far as the engine being rebuilt that much, makes no sence. They claimed it was babied, but if a honda is babied, it should last 200K, not 45k. And I dont know how Im expected to bring the R back to life, especially with it being 5 grand as is.. THat would be an expensive *** project that I will not mess with. Thanks everyone for the heads up, Without DontBlinks pictures I might have got myself into something I would have really regret.

Well its on Ebay as of now for sale as is, but maybe if it doesnt sell you could contact them via ebay (before the auction ends) and ask them.. I would have a hard time believing they wouldnt part that POS out.. so sad.
