trans swap
hi there, this is my first post. was hoping someone could help me out. i've got a 99 accord sedan 2.3 auto. the trans is crapping out so I'd like to swap in a manual. besides the obvious things, trans, shift linkage, pedals,&clutch assy, is there anything else I need. possibly axles and wiring? thanks
Trans, clutch, throwout bearing, master/slave cylinder and lines, clutch and brake pedals, shifter, shift linkage, driver's side axle (2 piece), front motor mount (manual; auto won't clear the slave cylinder; the rubber piece is the same), flywheel, flywheel bolts, 5spd starter, trans mount (auto rubber piece is smaller, but you could install shims around it), 5spd speed sensor with plug, one long tranny bolt (so you can put the flywheel cover on), and 2 qts of MTF.
That should be everything. I have just done this last week, so if you have questions, feel free to ask.
Edit: the car will run on the auto ECU, but it is throwing codes. I hooked up all the auto trans sensors and solenoids, which took care of the CEL, but the fuel cutoff is at 5k and vtec doesn't work. I'm still working on a way around that.

thanks for the info. if I swap the ecu w/ a manual do you think that will eliminate codes. is the wire harness the same for a manual or will that need to be switched as well. this is my first jap car and not real familiar w/ them yet. thanks.
Swapping the ECU will eliminate the codes. For the most part, the harness is the same. You will have to repin a wire (as the swap guide in the FAQ states), but other than that, it's the same.
