if by halfshaft you mean intermediate or jackshaft then there the same but the 97-01 is alluminum the 92-96 is steel, the axle it self (the end that goes into the hub) is shorter on the 97-01.

why the blocks and trans are the exact same, there is no difference in length, if there is its minimal, i have used both on my h22a4 and theres no problems,

if your so sure then why ask the question?

because in swapping an H22 into my CRX, the driver side axle binds. and this is using innovative mounts and innovative axles.

i have already send the axle back to innovative, and the one they sent back said was correct measurements etc etc, and still binds.

so it's gotta be the half shaft length.

well, is your car lowered?

and if thats the problem then send it back get your money and buy a custom shorter one from dss, i have a shorter passenger side axle for my lude.
but i ve delt with the axles and there no shorter they are only shorter on the threade porton to accomodate for the thinnner hub of the 5th gen, i know this because i have the 5lug swap from a 5th gen lude and had 4th gen axles in it and the spindle nut would not torque down.

what intermediate shaft do you have i can measure my 4th gen and tell you.

yea but this is in a CRX, with some aftermarket mounts... so motor positioning is a bit different

it doesn't matter if its in a crx a motor and trans is a motor and trans. thats all that matters for the length of the intermediate shaft. the trans doesnt become closer to the motor just because its in a crx.

they are the same length, maybe its something else causing the axle to bind, why do you say they're binding.

did you measure the axle runout?
there should be like 1/2 to 1 inch of axle play in the hub.

on prelude 92-96 the drivers side is much longer then the passenger on automatics
but on manuals, the drivers side is only slightly longer becasue it plugs into the half shaft

when you say play, do you mean in and out?

right now i can barly move the wheel when the wheels are pointed stright. when turned, they move ok.

think i need to have the axle shortened by about an inch?

yeah in and out, remove the axle nut and push the axle in it should go in about .5 to 1 inch, any less and its probably binding, i may be wromg on the measuremnets but, you can call driveshaft shop and ask them, and yes if you do not have enough play then you can order one from them for like 160 i think it is or whatever there level 1 axle is they cut it to length for free.

i thought you were supposed to use 90-93 accord intermediate shaft and 90-93 integra axles anyway?

They are the same. Check out http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com Look at the part numbers for the half shaft (its under "driveshaft") They are the same for 92-96's and 97-01 (non SH). So either they are exactly the same, or the differences are negligible enough to let honda sell 1 part for both applications.
