Help me decide what amp
Well I currently have my PS3 up for trade for some rims or an amp. I have two people offering amps that I am considering.
1) Kicker KX1200.1
2) JL 500/1
I already have some subs. Two Audiobahn 12"s 1000 watts max, 500 watts RMS DVC ech coil is 4ohm(yes I know Audiobahn
, I have had them for 5 years still running strong, and when they break or I have extra cash I'll pick up some Alpine R's or JL's).
Which amp would you recommend?

Whats the model number of the sub, I would go with the jl amp, the kicker looks a lil beat up
I haven't seen pictures of the JL amp yet, so I'm not sure on it's physical appearance. Either one will be tested before I send anything out. The model subs are AWC12Q

JL 500/1....far better amp than the kicker....i have the same JL and in my car with a 12" L5 Solobaric and love it!!!! btw....IMO...run one audiobahn sub and bridge the sub down to 2 ohms....JL 500/1 is stable down to 1.5 ohms and RMS power is a constent 500 watts @ 1.5-4 ohms...

Ditto the above.^^^
If you get the JL Audio 500/1 use just one of the subs, the audiobahn AWC12Q is a DVC 4 ohm 500W continuous, [RMS] sub, so you would have to wire them to a 1 ohm load for the Kicker KX1200.1, [1x1200W RMS @14.4V or 1x1050W RMS @ 12.5V] if you want to use them both, I do not recommend a 1 ohm load on an amp, [even if it is stable to 1 ohm] SQ will suck, you will lose all linearity, the amp will run hot all the time with excessive current draw.
Stick with one sub or find an amp that is at least 1x1000W RMS into a 4 ohm load, like the JL Audio 1000/1 or the Kicker KX2500.1.

Well I decided to back out on the deal. I can find the used amps for less than what I could sell the PS3 for. I am just going to sell it then buy a amp more suitable to my needs. I currently have a old school Fultron amp putting out 300 watts RMS at 4 ohms. So I was just running one sub (only one voice coil) in my Prelude. I sold the car, so now I need a new head unit before I install into the hatch.
I was looking at the Hifonics amps, they seem to have the right amount of wattage., but I'm not sure of the quality anymore. I know the old school ones were good, but haven't bought any audio equipment in a LONG time. I had a Concept amp (when they were first released) loved it. Great amp, sold it in stupidity. Then had a MTX amp that crapped the bed. Picked up a Rockford Fosgate amp and rocked it with two 12"s for years before it was stolen. Then hooked up this old Fultron one I got for free and used it for a few months.
I really love the quality and power out put of older amps. Only thing that scares me is paying so much for a amp that can break at anytime without a warranty.
