speedo intermittant
Changed the cluster with a used one still intermittent, bought a new speed sensor and installed the new drive key supplied but still not working ,now speedo advances to 30klm/per hr and stays there as soon as the ignition is turned on and seems to fluctuate at low speeds forward and reverse but never goes beyond the 30 kph, does anyone have any schematics or has anyone had this prob.thx.Dana,1996 Accord Ex Special
It is possible it's your wiring to the cluster, make sure there's no creases in your harness right there.
If you don't have a CEL it is most likely a cluster issue.
Also take a look at the back of the cluster and see if you notice any broken solder joints.

thx I have checked the wiring there and it seems to be fine and checked the engine harness connector for any corrision but there is none ,the car has been oiled annually since new,is ther a link to a schematic ?the cruise control works fine and no check engine lights and tranny shifts good
Gotca - what's the temperature like in Toronto atm?
If it's on the colder side, it can cause the solder joints to shrivel up and cause a gap in the connection, so you could have 2 busted clusters.
There isn't a schematic to my knowledge of the rear of it, but if you go through with a lower wattage soldering iron (25W or so) and just lightly touch each of the joints you can access just to the point where they start to melt again you should be fine. That should solve the issue assuming it's not a problem with the wiring itself.
With the cruise control working and no CEL you can rule out the VSS being the issue.

its about 85 degrees farenheit here and humid today and the crickets are singing, lol.I have looked closely at the circuit board at the rear of the cluster and there doesn't seem to be any cracks or broken joints I'll have to get my magnifying glass and look a little closer.thx.Dana
I am also wondering why it jumps to 30kph as soon as the engine is started and only fluctuates when the speed sensor is infact tripping whether in reverse or forward but no sign of fluctuation after 30kph
