Short Ram or CAI Side Effects
I'm about to get a CAI for my Accord and had a couple of concerns. First of all, I hear as long as your CAI has a splash guard or bypass valve there is no chance of hydrolocking. Do you know this to be true?
Also was wondering if I will need a fuel tuner so the air to fuel mixture is equalized and my car won't idle low at stop lights etc. I read about someone having this problem but thought maybe it was not installed right. Shouldn't the computer compensate automatically?

splash guard isn't guaranteed, but the bypass valve guarantees no hydrolocking.
no you don't need a fuel tuner you nub, if you install it correctly, dats all you need done, it's only an intake and re-routing hoses as is described in the instructions will take care of dat

You really do get what you pay for with those. A higher quality intake will always have less chance of sucking water due to design. AEM seems to be very confident with their high end intakes that they are very resistant to suck water. A co worker of mine Just installed one on his S2000, He even called to see if he should install a bypass valve and they told him not to.
It should still be obvious not to drive through deep water (even less than a stock model).
