Default How hard is a Fog Light kit to install?.......tips? 99' Civic

I was wondering how hard the JDM style fog lights are to install? I found some good instructions on the internet but im just wondering from personal experience how hard it is? As far as cutting and actually mounting them. The wiring dont look all that bad, kinda looks like plug and play. Thanks!

wireing is easy part..cutting is a pain in the butt if u dont use a electric cutting saw..mounting is easy as well..look carefully at the fog lights it shud say R and L and u just have to match it to ur bumper..

if you look on the back of the bumper there is a light stencil, as long as its a OEM bumper... use a dremel!

Or you could even drill a hole and then use a small hand saw for more accuracy. I just put in some JDM fogs from Password. They are plug and play so I assume the newer ones should be too. Theyre made by Depo so the quality is pretty good.

Ok. It could just be me, but im finding what appears to be 2 different shapes if fog lights. I have linked 2 different lights I found on ebay, both say that they fit all models of 99-00 civic.

But look at these, one looks to have more of a slant around where the screw hole is (not the round fog light hole) and the other is kinda more square. Im confused on which to get (unless its just the pictures)

-Less slant (more square)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

-"appears" to be more of a slant, look at the roundness of the whole thing around.

my car is a 99' Civic 4DR LX btw, thanks for the help!

The install will take a few hours if done right, and as far as the ebay fogs go, u would be better off buying some from PasswordJDM, cause those ebay ones look cheap as hell, plus the ones from PasswordJDM look a whole lot better plus they come with the wiring harness and the factory dash switch. Spend $100 more. You'll be glad u did.

it's really up to you, the only big difference between the 2 is that the password ones come in that sick jdm yellow [u can paint the ebay ones later if you want]. i personaly would pay a bit more knowing i'm getting a better quality product

i have a set of the ebay ones too, that are yellow also, they look real sick, too bad they won't fit my 2000 because of my charge pipes for the fmic are in the road.

oh yeah they also came with the whole wiring harness and the factory dash switch for around 80 or 90 bucks shipped

The eBay ones you're looking at have a clear lens, the Password JDM ones have a yellow lens. If you want to, you can just buy the eBay ones then paint them yellow but I would get the Password's, just because they're better quality.

Do you have to leave in the stock plastic part of the bumper beside the fog light (kinda looks like a dummy grill) or can you cut that out as well?

Also, I am looking at these lights on ebay, now hear me out, the auction says that they are silver with yellow fogs, well, my civic is a 99 and it too is silver, I think that would look good but do you think the colors would match ok?? In other words, did Honda only make a certain shade of silver for that year?? That being said, maybe the fog light bezels are closely matched to that color.

And mainly, here is the ones im wanting to get, please look at it and see if it looks like it comes with everything your kit did (I know you guys got Password and more expensive ones, but these should be the same right?)

How do you wire it to come on with the park lights? Or do they work like that by the plug-in harness?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1
Here is a link to the ones im wanting to get, the ones I posted earlier are the ones just to compare (of what I thought was) different lights. So that was my bad

Ok. Im confused. Im finding two different instructions here. On Passwords manuel its telling me to plug a connector into the #5 slot on the fuse box AND plug one into the blue taped brown plug that is under the dash behind the fuse box.

Now on this other manuel I found it says NOTHING about plugging a connector into the #5 slot on the fuse box, only says to plug one into the blue taped brown wire behind the fuse box. Im confused!

Here are the two links:

It's easy. To make it easier, buy the hole saw that it says to buy in the instructions. I tried it that way (after just cutting holes with a knife on 2 other cars like a poor and ignorant person. The holesaw method makes it 10X cleaner, easier, and faster. The hole saw I needed was like $8 at ACE.

$8. Buy it.

The wiring is different because some kits use the car's stock wiring, some don't.

My 98 Esuse fogs were plug and play, you plugged the harness into a plug behind the windshield washer reservoir and then mount the relay under the dash and mount the switch

Ok. Here's the bottom line, I found a link of a picture of what the harness exactly looks like, just tell me which goes where. I know some give opinions on there, but some act like they dont know what he's talking about.

http://images.google.com/imgre...a%3DN

Now the wires that go to each fog and then plugs to the brown connector under the windshield washer res., I understand that, but its these wires in the picture is what im confused on. So ok we got a fuse, ground, relay, and the wire that goes to the push-button switch, and the 1 brown connector that hooks the the brown connector "behind" the fuse box, which I have already located. So my question is, wher do the other 2 brown wires go, one with a yellow wire and the other with a red wire
