Finally, i found another Type R. I previously had 00-1216, and it was a lot of headache for me, and wanted to get into a new car. So i traded with DiRT! and used his hatch for a project for a while. It wasnt what i wanted. Sold it, Bought an S2000, wasnt what i wanted. So i sold it, and have been carless for 2 weeks. I bought a CBR600RR to get around on and it has been fun, but finally, i found a great car.
After looking and looking and talking on the phone with many people, I drove to Indiana yesterday morning in my old ITR, with DiRT! piloting it, and me waiting anxiously to get my new caR!
I knew the car had some minor issues, but for the price i could not hesitate and let this one slide away. The owner was telling me that the trans needed rebuilt, and it was not smooth. He said the motor smoked really bad, and had a few dings. I get there, and dont even test drive it, sign some papers, and im off. The car smoked for maybe 5 minutes while driving it..then it stopped. I could tell immediately it was a rock solid car, and i just got a sweet deal.
We made it home to Alabama 6 hours later, with a total of 14 hours being on the road. No problems, cruised 80-85mph the whole way.
This morning at work i ripped all the unnecessary wiring out from previous gauges and air horns.
The motor smokes very little in WOT, im very pleased with it. The trans is smooth, just needs an input shaft bearing.
I payed an amazing price for this 98-0181, and major props to the previous owners of this car for keeping it up like they did. 96,550 miles when i picked it up, i am the 3rd owner. And i am nothing but smiles with this car.
Here some pics of our trip....and some commentary
Drivng in DiRT!'s car

Here i am, just leaving the dudes neighborhood .... The front end is all raked up...he raised it up and never lowered it back down.

Headed home finally..

We stopped to check all our fluids, DiRT's car had an axle seal go out and ran low on trans fluid and popped out of 5th a few times. we had to top it off.

my motor..little ricey

Bored..

nice cluster, the interior is MINT

Thats about it. I have many plans for the car, and should happen shortly. I am so glad to be back into another aRRR!!!!

Its thermal R&D exhaust.
has some weird rear trailing arms on it. Lowers the car 2 inches with out changing the spring height. Kinda weird..ill snap some pics.

Congrats in the purchase. The only thing I'm going to mention is the use of harnesses in a car that isn't caged. Not such a good idea for daily driving.

Please dont start with that discussion.
I have owned a caged car before, i know what to do. and i have full buckets, and better harness's, maybe a cage later

Glad you picked up another one. I can only hope you will have better luck with this one(your old one had so many engine issues). We're semi close so I'm sure I'l see you around.
Nice
I can imagine what an awesome drive home that was. I would like to get myself into an R someday

The "bambi"car is for sale here also. Make sure you check out the rear end which isn't pictured on ebay.
Is this the car that was on Ebay that smokes only when in VTEC? It looked like a killer deal.

Yes, this is it.
Car may have been turbo'd previously, but the previous owner only owned this car for 2000 miles. If it was turbo'd he definetly did a good job of covering it up, and the motor does not show any major signs of turbo wear..
