Default Exhaust pipe Flange springs??

Hi all,

Was wondering what purpose do those bolt springs have on the stock exhaust catback setup? The springs that fit over the bolts and act as washers to the flanges.
Are they for vibration control or...????? Any suggestions because I would like to use them or that idea on an aftermarket exhaust setup like a power getter etc.

Thanks

In a way they are for vibration because they allow that joint to flex. Preventing cracks.

If you were to tighten the bolts down without the springs the joint would be loose because the springs are what puts the pressure on the joint. You will also notice that the bolt will bottom out way before the spring does.
