Default Where is the coolant temp switch?

Where is the coolant temp switch on a 89 DX with a D15b2? I have a couple of manuals that refer to two different switches- a "Thermoswitch" and a "Coolant Temp Switch". It also shows 2 locations. One under the dist cap and the other behind the water pump. Are there 2 switches? What do they do? Are the manuals for different motors or what? I'm having some cooling fan troubles! Halp!

I know where the guage sender is and that's not the one under the dist that I'm talking about.

the coolant temp sensor is the single wire sensor located underneath the distributor on the cylinder head.

the thermo-fan switch is located on the back of the engine block by the oil filter with 2 wires and a rubber boot protecting it.

there are 3 coolant temp sensors on the engine - the sensor for the gauge is on the end of the head below the distributor and has a one-wire connector (yellow with green stripe wire) - the sensor for the ECU is also on the end of the head next to the gauge sensor and has a 2-wire connector (red with white stripe and green with white stripe wires) - the cooling fan sensor/switch is on the back of the block next to the oil filter and has a 2-wire connector (yellow with green stripe and black wires) with round rubber boot on the connector

Thanks!

Found the problems- one fan motor was dead and the other fan had a burnt fuse... and was wired up backwards!
