obdI or obdII
I have a 95 gsr, and from my understanding they are obdI, but it dosnt have the stock engine and when I got my catback for it I notice it has a header for a 00-01 gsr so I had to cut my echaust 4 inches to make it fit, so I wonder if my engine is from a new model gsr and isnt obdI, how can I tell. I ask this because I am going turbo soon and trying to figure out what im going to do for tuning. And if its obdI that would make my life alot easier
I can't imagine they would go through all the hassle of converting it to OBD2 for no apparent reason though. The OBD2 engine harness is a direct plug and play into the OBD1 chassis harness and everything will run fine on the stock OBD1 ECU.
Look on your exhaust. If you have one O2 sensor toward the end of the header, it's OBD1. If you have a second O2 sensor at the end of the cat, it's OBD2.

yea thanks for the help, yea i do only have one o2 sensor, and i didnt know they labled the ecu's right on the bar code, looked at it and its a p72. and also im just wondering. I got a new dc header for a 95 gsr cus i was going to replace the one on the car but it dosnt have a 02 bung in it? im going to sell it now cause im goin turbo so it dont matter but why is this so
Because of the shorter manifold length on the earlier GSR's, the O2 bung was actually at the beginning of the cat. For every other B series (including the later GSR's) the manifold was longer and there was ample room for putting the O2 bung on the manifold.
