Default Type R Transmission

I want to buy a ITR tranny but how can i tell if it is a legit itr tranny without putting it in the motor. Is there any mark like on the motor itself to tell me what type of tranny? Sorry for the dumb question but new to the game

look for the LSD marking. Or you can look through the tranny hole and make sure there is no obstruction; other words, make sure you can see through.

But then again, someone could have changed the casing to the type r one and put a cheap LSD in there.
