If it has LSD, that would be your first clue.

there should be a tranny code stamped on it. search for type r tranny code stamp. it should be s80 i think.

or you could just do a quick launch and if there are 2 solid lines there you go. if you only have 1 solid nope.

gsr trannys have long gears. type r trannys have hella short gears. i think top speed of maybe 130 at 9k...

also.. it doesnt matter if you have lsd or not when you burn out.. i have a zc tranny with equal length axles and no lsd and both tires spin every time.. equal length burnouts too. one doesnt stop shorter...

That its a S80. Most ITR transmissions have J4D LSD in black on the outside housing.

If you want to tell if its LSD, take the axles and half-shaft out. If you can see through the axle holes completly, it has LSD. If you can't see all the way through, it isn't.

And yea, I have an ITR tranny.

At 80mph in 5th gear, how many rpms is it at?

about 4200rpms = GSR
above that should mean its an ITR.

s80 doesnt help. mines a gsr tranny with LSD stamp and it's s80... it was an option on the sir-g in japan. (the 94-95 jdm gsr)

best solution if there isn't a LSD stamped on the case, jack up the front end and spin one wheel, if the opposite wheel spins in the same direction, u have lsd. another is to take out the axels and half shaft, if its hollow thru u have lsd. I have a typeR tranny and my brother rubbed off the lsd stamp to deter watchful eyes before he gave it to me, but I carfax the vin just for the hell of it, sure enough it belong to a 2000 integra type R.

u dont even have to have a carfax account to see what kinda of car it is. so if u just wanna find out with kinda of car the vin is, carfax it on the site for free. to see the history, u will need the account.

why do people say that? "jack the car up and if the tires spin this way or that way then you have lsd". PLEASE!!! if it's not stapmed then the best and accurate way is to jack up the car, pull the axles out, and if there's no pin then it's surely an lsd tranny!

i did a topic like this a few months ago, the best person who described it the best was " B18C-EH2 ". he's a genius when it comes to things like this. you can find it in the archives.
