Default Stolen motor or not?

Alright heres the deal im trying to buy a b18c1 but don't know if its stolen or not. theres no vin on the tranny cause its obd1 and i thought i could give CHP the number under b18c1 which is 2305093 but they said its not the right number to give them so they can run a report. does anyone know how i can tell if its stolen?

if the guy who your buying it from doesnt have the paperwork, than its going to be really hard to find out if its stolen....without any vin numbers you SOL because they are the only way to identify the motor and which car it came out of

And the worst thing is that you're in California. If you get pulled over, and they ask to pop your hood, cops won't see the VIN and will question and will take your car, and you'll never see your engine or maybe even car ever again. DON'T get it without proper paper work. Many people here already have had their car taken away from them because of missing vins/paperwork.

mhmm so true. if you live in cali the only way to do swaps is the legit way, with paper work, vins and a bottle of lube so their strict laws aren't so rough on ya

Well if you do buy it, you will be taking a risk that could leave you in some legal trouble b/c of where you live.

Buy a legit motor, they are out there... I just sold my B18C1 for $600... Check my archives... I had the Title, Bill of sale, and the window sticker with the block # on it...

You can find them, but its rare for that price...

spending that extra $1000 is totally worth it. IF you do get pulled over (pretty likely), regardless if you get your car back, you'll still be paying for towing, impound, and labor fees.
