Default Difference in Brake Pads for...

Real quick is there a difference in the front brake pad for the 96-98 civics? I have a 97 EX and I see two different part numbers. I went down to the parts store and their systems did not ask if it was a coupe or hatch. Anyone?

I believe the DX is the only one with different brakes.

They're all the same for the coupe/hatch/sedan as long as the trim level is the same.

They dont make a ex hatch do they? Well I guess I start the job and if the pads do not match I go get the others ones. Just like to know what my headaches are going to be before I get to them

IIRC '99-'00 Civics are all the same front brake pads besides the EX and Si (which has larger rotors).

EX comes in coupe and sedan only.

Coupes were the: DX, EX, HX, Si (99-00).
Hatches were the: CX and DX.
Sedans were the: DX, DX-V (SE or VP), EX, GX (98-00), LX.

Where are you seeing two different part numbers?

If you go to http://www.oreillyauto.com they sell Wagner Thermos and they have two listings for front brake pads. One says its for coupe and sedan the other does not specify what its for.

Judging that some of the brake pads, even after selecting that it was an EX with rear drums, are listed for being for DXes and HXes, I'd say it's better to CALL the store rather than just leave it to a gamble online.

A lot of times computer systems will call a hatchback a "2 door" though, so it could have something to do with that.

96+ Civic EX and 99-00 Si share the same front caliper and pad.

99-00 Civic Si had the rear disc.

I'm looking at the part numbers for Autozone right now. If you can't figure it out, see if you can get them to cross reference the part number.

For a '97 Civic EX coupe/sedan it lists the following:

Duralast (semi-metallic) - MKD465A ($25)
Duralast Gold (ceramic) - DG465A ($35)
PFC-Carbon Metalic - 0465-12 ($65)
