Default spark plug gap

so i bought some NGK single platinum spark plugs for a 94 GSR ' but REALLY for my 92 spec B16A ' today and i was told to gap it to 52.. so naturally i was gonna gap to about 54 and let it settle in on its own..

now the problem is that the box for the plugs reads "do not gap" but i said freak it and i gapped it anyways. now the actual plugs it had before my ngks were gapped about 40 exactly like my new ngks... but like i said, i was told 52 is the perfect gap for my motor. did i do the right thing by gapping the plugs to 52 AND for gapping them even though the box says not to???

either way, i did notice it to start up a bit better and idle with out ocilating up and down so much. "like it started to right after i installed a set of 01 type r cams."

Honda recommends to gap them at 1.1mm.
