Default HELP!! Is it wise to trade my Audi for a CRX???

This is my first time posting in a looooong time, but hello!

Got a problem! I've got a mint Audi A4.. quattro, 1.8turbo, 5spd, leather, cold weather package, heated seats etc.. super de duper nice car!

But I've found a crx.. it's boosted. He says about 200hp to the wheels. And i've got the itch to go fast again.

Both our cars get about 28mpg in the city, and mine gets 32-35mpg highway, his gets 40-45.

Am I stupid for making such a downgrade? Or will this dropped/boosted crx be worth it?

ZC motor swap with about 45k miles on it
HMT turbo kit with Greddy 15g turbo with stage 3 compressor wheel. Estimate power is 200+.
Front mount intercooler
stage 1 racing clutch
10lb flywheel
full exhaust
upgraded sparks
Drop Zone shocks (lowered about an inch and a half to about two inches)
stiffer springs for cornering
front and rear sway bar
type R turbo timer

what do you think it would get?
I mean.. if he's staying outta boost for a long road trip.. why wouldn't it make sense he's getting that gas mileage?

having owned a Wolfsburg Jetta 1.8t with heated seats, etc...i voted for the crx. everything under the hood said audi, and the germans make amazing cars. i'd be lying if i didn't miss it. but parts were expensive and it doesn't compare to the fun i have in the crx.
it's almost too close to call for me, but good luck with your decision!!

man i LOVE my Audi.. it's just a fantastic car.. modding it is cheap and EASY to go fast if you have connections.. but at the same time, I miss having a tiny 2 door I can toss thru the corners. Plus, a boosted crx? Sweet! 200hp to the wheels on this tiny assed thing would fly!

I dunno man. Lik you said, it's a TOUGH call. Thats why I need outside oppinion lol

But also it's the whole "image" thing.. I own NICE, luxury cars that people tend to droll over. This is kind of a downgrade to me.. so I'm kind of torn.

German FTW! Not that i dislike crx's or anything...

I used to roll around in a 02 Passat 1.8 turbo. So that was basically an A4 it just didnt cost as much. You'd be surprised what a plug and play ecu chip will do to open up that 1.8t engine.

well if image is important, post pics of both cars if you've got em! that would help.

also consider the 4 door 4 passenger capability vs the 2 door you and a friend, people in the back if they dare...

there are times i miss having a back seat, but mostly i like having that one other person exclusivity

kingofnothing- hell ya, unitronic 1+ is about 50hp and 82lbs of torque on a stock motor. The tuning for these cars is endless. But a small, 2 door hatchback w/ a boosted motor that revs to the moon? Hell ya!

mit7059- You think I should?

I have pics, but dont know how to post them

But I realize the whole four door thing and me being married and having a kid.. but thankfuly I have another 4door w/ every option your brain could ever conjure. I have my wifes car for transporting people around and long trips, then my car is basically the "work" car thats driven to work and for great gas mileage around post. BUT it's still an AUDI as opposed to an old honda ya know?

Or you could drop in an S4 twin turbo v6 and some tuning on top of that and blow the doors off 90% of Crx's whlie maintaining your "image"

Just a thought

^Oh absolutely. An S4 would be a blast. Same as an RS4. But at the same time, my mustang GT (5.0 ) w/ heads/cam/intake that cost 1/3 the money RAPES the modded s4's around here.
Image/sex appeal and luxury? Hell ya!! But comeon.. I'm not THAT rich yet!! lol.

Thats why i'm so stuck. I dont know what to do. crx's are just so small and nimble and rev-happy.. i just think it would be fun. But i know i'll start missing the Audi ya know?

pics are simple. start a photobucket account or similar, then copy and paste the IMG code into your post.
it sounds like you want to keep the audi...but if you have other cars and this is your commute only car, i'd seriously consider the rex. if i had to choose again, it would still be the honda

Ya i've got a few other cars, and my wifes is ultra comfortable so we use that for travelling between Post and home in NY. 850miles one way. So yes, MY car is used for going to work and travelling on-post since I get such damn good gas mileage.

I mean.. this hatch is a great start though.. some black primer, angel headlamps, different tail-lights, etc.. and it would be off to a GREAT start ya know?

I have to say I agree. I have found that fixing the CRX is pretty cheap compared to most European cars...

do your slef a favor and trade for a mint never taken apart crx then just boost that. [freak] that boosted crx kid probably beat the **** out of it. and those 45k mile zc motors are a lie thats just an esitmate. not to mention the motor is almost 20 years old no matter how many miles are on it. if you really want a crx. sell the audi and buy one and turbo that bitch. that way atleast you know it was done right and wasnt half assed

Why not? But make sure you don't get ripped off, I don't know how much Audi's go for these days but I'm pretty sure your Audi is worth more than the CRX, so why would you go for a straight up trade? Shop around a little, you don't have to jump at the first thing you see. There are a lot of well modded cars in the Marketplace section

NOOOOOO keep the audi!

you can make a 1.8t audi faster than that CRX..

PLUS you will roll in way better style in the audi and more comfortable

The audi would sell for more. Why dont you just keep your audi and buy another crx. Its not expensive to build a turboed ZC.

A CRX with an HMT on a old ZC...keep the Audi

200hp est = did it get a good tune? Is it even tuned? How much psi?

How many miles are on the turbo...good seals? I have never heard of a "stage 3 compressor wheel" on a 15g

How does he drive...how old's the clutch?

Pillar Gauges...how does the wire harness look?

I don't mind buying a used honda, or a turbo honda, but stay away from this one. The list of parts are all ebay crap = cheap = corners were cut...prolly.

well thank you all for your oppinions. I know this is a honda site, but I also know that you guys are honest and not bullshitting so thats why I asked here. I'm seeing rather interesting responses though, and am sort of surprised that you guys like the Audi over the crx.
The 1.8t can be made to rip *** for like 1000$ total.. especially on my aeb motor.. but there is just something about a high-winding, 2-door boosted crx that just really gives me a hardon.

killbot- the guy says it's a new zc from japan direct. It was dyno tuned in greensboro (i think?) nc. He's running 10.5lbs on stock map and no mbc, and w/ those upgrades motor can handle 14lbs. The clutch is a new performance clutch (dont remember what kind), dont know how he drives, dont know about harnesses for pillar pods.

Thanks for the input though guys. Keep it coming. This is really tough for me.
