i got pulled over and got a ticket for

modified exhaust
loud exhaust


i have to go to ref..but its all closed down cause of california's budget

and the officer took my driver's liciense and never gave it back ??
what can i do because they wont give it back...

i have a boosted EM1 with open header

the officer didnt know what he was talking about and just wrote down
mod exhaut and loud exhaust

what do i need to do ??

Did he give you a reason for taking your driver's license?

I know when I was at Sturgis last year a fill-in cop took my driver's license because it was broken in half. He didn't issue me a temporary or anything which is what they're supposed to do, he just told me go get another one.

 

took your liscense??? was it suspended or anything? i would go to the police station or the munincipal building and get it back(thats if he didnt take it for a legit reason)... a modified exhaust is not a legit reason

 

I've seen other posts here where the same thing happens. The cop just drives off with your license. I never followed up on the threads and never found out if that's what they are supposed to do and mail it back to you when you pay your ticket or they forget to give it back. I highly doubt they forget to give it back. It would just really be nice if the cop would tell you if and why he's taking your license.

I also got a ticket like 3 years ago for modified exhaust here in Florida. He really stopped me for going 10 over the speed limit but he cut me a break and only gave me the muffler ticket which was like 40 bucks. He said they don't offer fix it tickets here anymore for modified/aftermarket exhausts. I still have the exhaust on till this day.

3 months down the road after the ticket I got Air Force plates and I've never been bothered again. I've had cops pull out behind me for speeding (10 miles over) and tailgate me for a few minutes.. but then they always end up just going away. One followed me for a few minutes, then sped up beside me and said "Try to slow down son" and then sped away. I don't know if it's luck or the plates but they seriously don't bother me at all. I even have had a tailight out for a long time now since the bulb socket melted. My entire family tree is Air Force and Marines

 

yea around me the state troopers are almost completly made up of marines, so if you have a marine sticker/ in the marine your for the most part untouchable

 

that suck. i think its going to be hard to get ur liciense back at least the one they took from you. i think your going to have to go to the dmv an get another 1

why would they take your lisence? alot of people have just their drivers lisense as their photo ID. ive had my lisence suspended and i never had to give my card up. so maybe the officer just forgot to give it back to you. call the station with the badge number on the ticket you got, and see if they will give it back or what their reasoning is behind holding your card.

I worked for the State Referee scheduling center up in sac and they laid me off but its temporary. but for that ticket its going to be violation code 27156 or 27150 on ur ticket n that means you need a sound test but u dont need to bring ur drivers lincense anybody could take the car for you as long as they bring the car's TITLE OR REGISTRATION. Usually the agency that u received can sometimes right off the ticket if its just a sound test. So what do they want you to do now since referees are not available at the moment? im kind of wondering..

i think the cop just forgot to give it back...my drivings clean has 2 speeding tickets but i went to traffic skool and paid it off already....i called the police station but they just said get a new one...i was like WTF i have to pay for a new one again. i just got that drivers liciense 1 month ago

WTF am i suppose to do
the cops are stupid cause the REF are shut down and there still giving REF tickets out
