Default D16/ZC oil pan baffles?

Just wondering what some of you guys use for oil pan baffles, or if there is one OEM pan thats better than others. I have a CRX with a DOHC ZC, and would rather not spend $380 on a Moroso pan if I don't need to.

Kevin at CrankScrapers.com referenced me to the Boylans, that road race a D16. He remembered that they use baffles on that engine, and had a lot of information on what pan to use, etc. I believe they're from Florida, anyone know how to get ahold of them?

i have hours and hours of logging and the d16z6 has no oil pressure drops, no need for a baffled pan

I second what slammed_93_hatch just said. I used to race CRX D16A6 and now a Civic D16Z6. Neither of which need baffles. OEM is just find.

And I'll 3rd the above... I've never seen low oil pressure with my D16A6.

he's talking about the twin cam d-series.
one of my teammates is building one of those (not a zc, but a twin cam d-series) and is gonna use the morosso pan. i'm using one on my b16 but i tink most people that use baffled pans are doing so for extra protection. not so much because of an oil pressure drop.

Yes, I'm running a DOHC ZC. Sorry for the confusion.

I have a friend that runs a D16Z6 in a CRX, and has had low oil pressure once during a race with the factory pan. He immediately bought a Moroso pan and hasn't had any problems since... I'm just trying to weigh my options since I need to take off my pan soon anyway.

What would be the best D series pan to run, and that would fit on a DOHC ZC/D16A6?

A stock pan. Use a Y8 pan (other things needed to make it work) but be afraid of hitting it as its cast aluminum.

I'm using a 5.5 qt pan for a Z6 on a customer D16A1 (similar to the DOHC ZC). One of the benefits of it is more clearance in the header tunnel so you can run a custom 4-1 with a merge collector and still have great ground clearance.

You're running a 5.5 quart Moroso pan on the A1?

Sort of, it isn't running yet. Waiting on a few more parts until I assemble the engine.

15 hours on track and for the most part no issues. I ran VIR north last summer and at the top of the roller coaster I would get a low pressure light that would blink on just long enough to catch my eye. Threw an extra half quart in there and havn't seen the light since.

I second the notion of making your own baffles if you're in a pinch and want some immediate peace of mind.

For one, I have no access to sheet metal or anything to cut it with... A kit like Fastline's B series baffle kit would be perfect, but I can't find one for a D series. I guess I need to snoop around for someone that can fab up some baffles...

Voodooboy, you're running the stock ZC pan, correct?
