Default Is a ITB set up practical.....

For a daily driver set up, or would it be best advised to have this application on a "track" or "race car" ?

I'm toying with the idea because I would like to build an "all motor" set up that I could enjoy on a daily basis.

I do not know much about this application but I do know there is quite a bit of tuning and cash involved.

Any advice is appreciate.

It's not a practical setup for daily driving, considering the decrease in fuel economy and cost necessary to make the car idle/run properly. Ideally, it's for track/drag applications that are more "performance" based than economy.

really? a mileage decrease? i just drove my car 120 miles each way to and from the track, did 5 1/4 runs, and still had a 1/4 tank left.

with 52mm itb's on my built ls/vtec, with 440 injectors and a 255 pump i got 32mpg...and i can consistently do that...even more if i keep it below 75mph lol.

and i payed 400 for a tune...car idles dead on 900rpms, doesnt die out in traffic, and the only reason it isnt smooth driving is because of how i had to bend the gas pedal arm to get them to open 100% since there wasnt enough pedal movement. if you find a competent tuner and run a decent EMS (im running neptune...heard ectune handles itb's pretty well) theres no issue. only reason i didnt daily my motor is because i have no a/c and i have to wear a shirt and tie to work.

if you have the money and a tuner competent enough to properly set them up mechanically and tune them, they are practical. If you are missing any one of those components, get a manifold.

I think I heard the same rumor.

But it can't be true can it? It would be way too costly to run them in a production car. Wouldn't you have to tune them constantly? What car company, cough BMW, cough Toyota, would put there customers through a constant state of crappy fuel economy and tuning nightmares?
