Default Midwest Motorsports Festival - October 11th and 12th @ Blackhawk

First off, even though this event is located at Blackhawk, participation is of course open to anyone willing to drive out. Secondly, we've got a decently large motorsports community out here in the Midwest, and even though this is Honda-Tech I'm sure there are those of you who've got something other than a Honda, and this event is open to all makes, even motorcycles and karts. Third, COME OUT AND HAVE FUN! The entire Midwest Motorsports Festival staff and the sponsors have been busting their backs putting this event together, and it does appear that this will be a very unique, very BIG event for anyone interested in motorsports. Details (dates, individual events, PRIZES) are in the blurb below.

Chicago, IL;
“It is going to happen and it will be one of the great Performance Motorsports events in the region with programs for everyone ranging from the Novice Driver to the experienced Pro” those are the words of Joe Hill Event Director for the upcoming Midwest Motorsports Festival presented by Autometer at Blackhawk Farms Raceway, October 11 & 12, 2008.

With over $60,000 in cash, prizes, trophies and awards to be distributed to the participants this event offers one of the most exciting formats for everyone interested in motorsports. The program includes scheduled competition and timed lapping programs for Motorcycles, Performance Cars, and Karts. This unique format also is designed to cater to those who are just seeking to upgrade the performance of the Bike or Car through on track lapping sessions and a continuous schedule of Performance Seminars presented by the best engineering groups in the country.

The weekend starts out with the AMS Performance Car lapping sessions where over 3 hours of on-track time is scheduled for groups ranging from Street prepared to the Ultimate Class featuring the Pro One and Two divisions. There are programs and instruction for Novice Drivers and plenty of on-track time for those more experienced. Later in the day we move to the DGY Motorcycle Program featuring lap sessions for all levels of experience, qualifying for the $20,000 DGY Shoot Out, and our special Women’s Challenge Lap Event with an additional $5,000 in cash and prizes. We wrap up Saturday with the Jet Karting TAG Kart practice, live entertainment, and an On-Track car show. And, for those who can’t get enough we have overnight camping.

Sunday starts out with additional AMS Performance Car lap programs where the top 5 cars from each of our Performance Car classes will move on to the PIC Super Lap program where contestants will compete for over $15,000. We then feature the Jet Karting Tag Kart Race, move onto the DGY $20,000 Shoot Out Races and complete the weekend with the PIC Super Lap Competition and the MIDWEST MOTORSPORTS CHALLENGE RACE featuring the single fastest car, motorcycle, and Kart in a Handicap format that will award the participants with an additional $5,000 in cash and prizes.

I wouldn't say there's *too* much going on. We anticipate seeing a very diverse crowd, with different driving skills and levels of prep, so the on-track events are appropriately diversified. Off the track, there will be seminars, vendor displays, the car show and the Saturday evening live entertainment for everyone else. The MMS Festival team has been in the business of arranging events like this for years, everything will be organized neatly once the schedule and the website rolls out.

All races are timed with multiple cars on track at the same time, but none are competitive wheel to wheel. Winners are declared by lap times.

Here's a quick layout of what the on-track events will look like:

All registration fees include one camping spot.

Entry Costs by Class (Cars):
AMS Street Performance Category
$200 for Advanced Registration (paid prior to October 1, 2008)
$250 for Late Registration
$150 Saturday Only Registration
$20 Transponder rental per day
$300 Garage rental for the weekend
$15 crew pass
$35 additional camping spot

AMS Street Modified Category
$200 for Advanced Registration (paid in full prior to October 1, 2008)
$250 for Late Registration
No Single Day Registration
$20 Transponder rental per day
$300 Garage rental for the weekend
$15 crew pass
$35 additional camping spot

AMS Ultimate Performance Car Category
$225 for Advanced Registration (paid in full prior to October 1, 2008)
$275 for Late Registration
No Single Day Registration
$20 Transponder rental per day
$300 Garage rental for the weekend
$15 crew pass
$35 additional camping spot

Entry Costs (Motorcycles):
$225 Advanced Registration for Novice and Women's
$275 Advanced Registration Expert/Pro
Add $50 for Late Registration
$25 Transponder rental per day (transponder required)

Entry Cost (Karts):
$80 Registration includes Practice, Qualifying and Race participation, plus one crew pas

Everything is definitely geared towards the racers. All efforts have been focused on making the event as racer-oriented as possible;, the seminars and the kart/motorcycle programs are intended to promote an appreciation all forms of motor-sports.

It will be a track-day atmosphere mixed with a festival-type feel, with lots of events going on but with the main focus centered around what goes on at the track, so that people don't feel like they came to a car show and some racing broke out.

I think the broad appeal of the event shows in the diversity of car clubs that will be attending - from MWIR to the Lambo Owner's Club. Not to mention the karts and motorcycles, which I personally am anxiously looking forward to seeing. For the cost of entry, anyone who attends will be getting a great deal of experience, exposure to the motor-sports industry and to other forms of racing.

Same for me, I want to do one more event before I start tearing the motor apart.

Hello All,
I am Chris one of the Directors of the Midwest MotorSports Festival. I apologize for not registering on this board sooner but we have been quiet busy spreading everywhere from national events to regional forums. It looks as if Al over at PIC Performance has done a great job of getting the information out here thus far and I can't thank him enough for that.

I wanted to stop in and lend my ear to any of you that may have questions regarding the event and how it will operate. Please feel free to contact me at Chris@MMSFest.com or reply on this forum with any questions you might have. I handle a ton of forums throughout the web and check them very frequently so your questions should be answered quickly.

I wanted to also give everyone a heads up that our registration is open and we have had a very diverse group of drivers and cars signing up. Don't delay to long on registration if you plan to drive in one of our many classes!

Al +1 to you sir for getting the word out to the ever so active Honda community.

Let the questions fly fellas.

I am also very pleased to announce that Top Setup will be running their newest project car which is of course the Honda CRX! Charlie has told me a lot about this car and I am very excited to see what it can do.

Getting some clarification on the kart question.

This should be a fun way for lots of you to wind down the season. Who knows, you might go into the off-season with a little extra spending money also

Manufacturer support added!!

September 10, 2008

‘McGrath Lexus and Lamborghini Chicago join Event Format’

The Midwest Motorsports Festival presented by Autometer just got even more intense with the addition of sponsors McGrath Lexus and Lamborghini Chicago. These outstanding brands will present some of the most advanced performance cars in the world as part of the event schedule.

McGrath Lexus will be bringing out the Lexus IS-F for display and on track presentation while Lamborghini Chicago will present the Lotus Exige and Elise models. Both companies will be actively involved in product displays, performance seminars, trophy presentations, and coordination with regional brand organizations/clubs.

The event staff will be working closely with both companies to offer Lexus, Lotus, and Lamborghini owners with the opportunity to participate in our Track Day, Race Competition, and entertainment events.

The addition of these two outstanding dealers will ensure a very diverse group of cars on the track for all AMS Track Day class participants. With Lotus, Lexus, and Lamborghini owners joining an already strong group of registered participants everyone can count on an exciting day of activities.

Lamborghini Chicago and McGrath Lexus joins sponsors Autometer, AMS Performance, PIC (Power In Control), DGY Motorsports, and Jet Karting to bring this fantastic event to the region.

I hear the IS-F is a beast.

We're exactly one month away now. Anyone still on the fence about attending (even just as a spectator)? Don't hesitate to ask questions if you've got them. For all the planning and organizing and big partnerships associated with the event, it is still very much driver-oriented, AND newbie friendly. Plus, it'll be a great way for a lot of us mid-wester's to wrap up the season.
