Default changed fuel filter now car wont work HELP

I just changed the fuel filter on my 89 hatch and started it up. It starts and idels well but now it dies basicly whenever I give it any gas. I opened up the gas cap thinking it was air locked but that didnt fix it. I got the directions correct on the filter and hoses. I purged the lines and I can Idle it allday. What is the problem? my car is stranded on the side of the road.

Thanks in advanced

I got it fixed. What happened was I took off the fuel line where it connects to the fuel rail and then when I tightened up the bolt/surge suppressor it was worn to out of spec so the gas would not flow around the bango fitting into the fuel rail. I went and got a new Bolt/surge supressor and probelm solved.
