fuel pump hassling problem!

fuel pump hassling problem!
drained the gas. dropped the tank. took out the fuel pump, now the fuel pump wont go in! the housing is somehow stuck against the rim...any suggestions? this is the most frustrating thing i've ever done on a car..
PLUS!!! the damn fuel filter and the little rubber thing fell inside the tank!!! AAHHHH!!!!!
