how much for a trade in?
I took my car to the Cadillac dealership yesterday to see about trading it in on a new vehical. They inspected my car, and since it wasn't in the blue book, they were clueless. I tried to explain the car to them but to no avail. Could you guys help me see how close they came on the estimate?
2001 ITR, black
27,500miles
H&R springs (and orignal springs, i'd put it back to stock)
carbon fiber hood (can't go back to stock, it's all i have now)
They offered $16,000, I wanted to cry. What is a reasonable price for this vehical? Thanks

The dealer will always give you a low ball offer, then when they put it back on the market, they sell it for about 7000 more than what they offered you. I would suggest to sell it to a private party. They obviously don't know what kinda car it is.
show them ads for the R... i.e. autotrader
i got offered 19k for mine at the Benz dealer back to stock . that was with like 18k on it or so . i wouldnt take it though. it didnt feel right. but its all about the game , they called honda to see what they would buy one for and based it off that .
Your trading the R in for a caddy
why would you do that, caddy is soso when it comes to reliablity and quality, Why not get a BMW or small Benz?
I am lost.

So I was just looking on auto-trader to see what other people are trying to sell at and I found this. http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/v...&car_year=2001
I called them up just because I was so curious. The lady who picked up the phone said there was a "$6,000 racing engine, and dem Spaco racing seats" I said "And you're sure it's 38,000???" She said yeah. Oh well, good luck to them
Current Galves used car value of a '01 ITR is 16,300. Most Honda/Acura dealers will give you about $2500 more than this figure though. Other dealers are usually clueless and will offer you less than book.
Before buying an Escalade, you should read this Car & Driver review. It think it is my favourite car review of all time.

get an escalade so I can take a big poop on it......
Also, to answer the original question, trade in value is much less than what you can sell it for.[Modified by nfn15037, 5:03 PM 7/23/2002]
Goddamn people, why do you care what car this man buys?

Because we have to share the road with the sort of urban inadequates that buy these things.

I ran in to this same problem when I bought my R. My credit union was more then happy to finance me up to high blue book. Here lies the problem. KBB states that the Type-R is a classic collectors car, but does not take that into consideration when determining the value of the car. So supply and demand didn't help me. The credit union excepted an appraisal of the car from my local Acura dealer though, and in the end, everything worked out. Strange how that works... you figure KBB would be more on top of things.
Good grief that review is brutal!!!
"This Cadillac includes an "Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist" (URPA), so that you don't back over a runaway bison or a Humvee belonging to the military police. Cadillac says the device "now incorporates a new snow, ice, and mud algorithm in its software." What it does is this: It works to tell you when it's not working."
