Need Help on my First build
Okay this is my first build and I am stuck with what headers and exhaust will perform good on my setup?
Between big tubes and reg headers and 2.5" or 3" inch exhaust?
Note* this is not gonna be a daily driven car*
Here's a run down on my setup
Jdm typer head
Full race port and polish
Skunk2 pro mani and throttle body
Skunk2 stage 3 cams
Supertech flat vavles retainers and springs
Gsr block
.20 ctr pistons 81.5mm
98 Jdm typer tranny

Ask yourself this question..
What motors have you NOT seen benifit from being able to breath correctly?
a 2.5'' or a 3'' exhaust will be fine..
I run Big tube on my stock itr bottem end and the car is wicked..
I'd suggest possible researching more, but i run a "true" hytech header .. not some knock off..
I'm running open header currently, I'm upgrading to a 3'' exhaust within the next couple of weeks from a 2.5'' because of the way these headers flow open header..

i don't know how much of a moron i am, we are talking about a 1.8 liter here not a v8, i think the 3 inch is just a little bit of over kill, maybe if u were produicng a **** load of power then 3 inches would be worthwhile, but regardless the half inch is not going to give u a big difference in power
before u guys call me a moron, someone show me some dyno numbers similar to a build of this guys comparing a 2.5 vs 3 inch exhaust then and lets see if theres such a big difference at all
just remember having too a big of a exhaust can hurt u sometimes, and im not saying that a 3 inch will do that, but please guys show me some dyno evidence here of a substantial difference between the 2

Dont mod a honda until you search about how it makes power..

I'm not going to call you a moron but that statement is simply wrong. That 0.5" difference in diameter is ~ 44% more area. Everything beyond the collector is resistance. There's no way a larger exhaust will hurt performance. It simply does not make sense, practically or theorectical.
Rather than asking for some to show you dyno proof did you search in the FAQ at the top of page?

Hopefully, this helps to clear up some of your misconceptions.

That's why Edelbrock makes a turn down pipe with a 3" pipe because having more flow and less restriction is a bad thing.
Look at some dyno charts with exhaust installed and with exhaust removed or open header runs. What's the result?

Thanks for showing me the link. I can see that the K series makes more power with the bigger exhaust, but I am still interested in seeing how much it affects the B series since the engines have their differences. Alot of times on this site, I see people crtiize other people because of their statements but never explain WHY. By showing the person why it eliminates many of the same repetitive posts. For example, think about many people will ask what parts are needed in a LSVTEC build even though there are stickys on it. Once again thanks for showing me. What I previously said I guess was a misconception that I have hard for years and now after looking at the chart i can see the difference.

NP, I ran 3" exhaust on b16 and I run it on my b18c. Here's a link with the power numbers etc.
https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=3
The car traps over 100 mph on street tires with stock interior except the carpet.

I was thinking of doing a b20vtec with either a rmf or possibly a SMSP header. If i were to go with the SMSP header lets say, can i then run a 3 inch exhaust off the header all the way to the muffler?
