Personally, although it was cool seeing so many R together on track at Gingerman, my vote's for an H-T expo.

R's with a few "special invitations"...for those who have previous experience writing "Phil Sucks" with shoe polish

Here is an idea! Why not see if we can get a Friday before a NASA event weekend; aka Honda Challenge, and make a grand weekend out of the ordeal. We could possibly have an ITR-only "track-day" to reduce cost, and then have the HPDE for everyone else or those ITRs that want more track time. Just a thought.

Whatever the name is, it would be MUCH easier to make the event happen if we had other car models besides the Type R.

ditoo.....all civic drivers are theives.....they take itr owners and OwnZ them on tracks!!!

 

If you have a Honda/Acura expo every model-specific group can show up, all of the race teams can be invited, and you could actually get magazine coverage. Think of it, Realtime, NN Racing, King, HART, HRPworld, Honda Challenge racers, and Team Kool Green and/or Mo Nunn could all come out to support the event. You could invite all of the Honda tuners as well and have a huge weekend.

An ITR weekend could still take place but next time be more diplomatic about it. IOW, at the very beginning say ITR only registration until X date, open registration at X date. Don't get so uptight about it being an ITR only thing because if its not gonna happen, its not gonna happen. By being fanatical about it you turn away people with other cars that would come and help your event break even.

I think both events could be successful if you guys enlist the help of an established organization (NASA-VA comes to mind), handle the politics with dignity and respect, and add enough auxiliary bonuses to get lots of people to come. I'd be more than willing to help if these things happen but I can tell you right now that few will be willing to help with an ITR expo if it becomes an elitist whine fest.
