Shift Light
Well, I guess once I get use to my new car this won't be such a problem. As some might know I bought a ZC CRX on saturday. I was told that the computer will redline somewhere around 7000 rpm, but I haven't tested that, really don't wanna. Here are the questions:
Where should my ZC engine with original ECU redline?
What is the best shift RPM on these engines?
Does anyone sell just an add on shift light, so I can keep my eyes on the road/track? My gauge cluster has a tach, I just want an annoyingly bright shift light.
The tranny is 5 speed and in 5th at 55 I'm around 2400-2500 rpm according to the car's tach, I'm just assuming the speedo is correct also.

I think the factory ECU rev limits at either 7500 or 7800.
The redline on a JDM Si Cluster is 7200 rpm I think.
Best shift point is something you either need to dyno to find or just feel out. When I raced mine at the track (prior to the turbo) I shifted at 7501rpm if you know what I mean. I shifted right when I thought the limiter would hit, and didn't lift on the shifts. 4 years and a turbo addition later, its still running like a charm.
On the street I usually shift around 4500 rpm.
There is a shift light advertized in the new Jegs catelog that doesn't require a rpm module I think. Check it out more because I only slightly remember seeing it, but I think you just set you desired RPM on the light itself.
Also, you probably already know, but MSD makes a light that is triggered by an rpm box. Its a small pen sized shift light with a bright LED.
Hope some of that helps a little.

Here is a kick *** alternative to those big ole pesky shift lights
