ok, I have a 2000 prelude base model. the power door locks, clock, memory in radio, and dome light all worked before stock radio was taken out and plug on back cut to wire up new cd player. The door locks wont lock with the key on or off. they will only unlock and only with the key ON. also, dome light doesnt work when the doors open, only when the key is ON, clock doesnt work at all now, memory doesnt stay in cd player. Im wondering if i could take it to best buy or car toys and have them fix it( can they?) I think it might have somethin to do with the anti theft that was on the original stereo. I still have the plug but theres not much wire coming out the back. Also. I have a wiring diagram (SAME PROBLEM BTW) and the constant power doesnt have constant power now but it did with the original radio. HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM PLEASE!!!.
ok now to the question:
I WANT TO REDUCE WEIGHT ON MY 2000 PRELUDE. IT HAS A VIS RACING CARBONFIBER HOOD AND LIGHTER, AFTERMARKET WHEELS. EVENTUALLY IM GETTING FIBERGLASS FENDERS AND CF TRUNK BUT FOR NOW IM LOOKING FOR "FREE" WEIGHT REDUCTION ANY AND ALL HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED. THANKS.

u actually cut the harness from your car's wiring harness? you realize they have plug and play harnesses so u can avoid that? its called a reverse wiring harness. sounds like u shorted something out, check ur fuses and see whats blown. ur sure all the wiring is correct and nothing is wrong?

I didnt cut the plug. my step dad did , he used to work at a stereo installation place. I checked and double checked all fuses, both under the hood AND in the car.
I cant figure it out. and it is frustrating me because I cant figure it out. I know they make the plug and play for it. Im tempted to get some soder ( how ever you spell it) and soder the wires back to the plug and putting the original radio back in. ( yea I was smart I kept both things just in case somethin like this happened).

it really does sound like somethings not hooked up correctly. look into whatever alarm you have and see if those features are controlled by it? im pretty sure the stock door locks and radio are independent of eachother.

I have absolutely no alarm what so ever on my car. everything was working perfectly on it until the stereo got messed with and now everything went to crap. im wondering if we should run a constant power wire to the doors and to the stereo?
Don't add jumpers.
Fix what your step dad fuked up.
If he cut the wires than get him to fix it. Just undo everything he did. All the wires should have color coding on them. Match color to color, use butt connectors and crimp them. If you havn't soldered ever you don't want to even bother. You'll just make a mess, get cold/ poor solders and it will leave room for error.
Once your back to start, than you can hack in your Deck harness to the appropriate wires in your car harness following the instructions provided with the harness for your deck and according to the wiring color code they give you.
I don't understand why people go in and start hacking things they don't completely understand?? WHY GOD WHY? The "HANDYMAN" bane of everybodies existance. Cheapening all Trades one job, one *** up at a time. Sorry, but stuff like this should not happen. The information is always available. You just need to read or look for it in order to avoid critical mistakes like this. I'm not going to shiet you either!!, this electrical problem you have is likely going to be a HUGE biatch to fix!.
Good luck though man. Your going to need to learn how to trouble shoot a bit so make sure you read EVERYTHING as far as wiring color code is concerned. Get a good pair of wire strippers/crimpers. Small blue butt connectors or crimps, some E-Tape, and perhaps a cheap multi meter would be helpfull.

Ok, Thanks. ive got a wiring diagram printed out thats Out in the car. He only left small stubs sticking out of the plug but there should be enough to soder the wires together ( my grandfather has sodered and everything else,So he is the man for the job) Im hopin that fixes the problem. I am still welcoming suggestions for this problem But now what about the weight reduction i was talking about?
