Has anyone out there used bedliner or rhino liner under the hood? Was thinking about using it but wanted to see what it looked it.

I've never seen that before, but I have seen someone rhino line a set of motegi mr7's, it looked like ***....

 

I can only imagine. Why someone would do that is beyond me. Under the engine compartment is a different story. I've tried searching this and other forums and haven't found anyone that has done this under any hood for that matter. The only thing is it's a ton of work disconnecting everything under the hood.

Does anyone have any tips on painting the engine compartment without getting over spray on stuff like the hard brake and fuel lines? If I don't do the bedliner then I might just use that high temp black paint.

They do them in colors here. There was a guy a few years back who had his Avalanche painted with green rhino liner.

 

Oh you mean like in the engine bay...hm I donno about that. I would imagine you just have yo pull the engine out anyways, masking tape for the lines and such? not sure...

 

i thought about that,it MAY help reduce the engine bay temperature on hot days and it MAY act as a soundproofing material

 

Thanks for all the responses. I'm really looking for pictures of any engine compartment that has that done really. Also I do have the motor already so that's no big deal. Just though of doing this while I had everything apart would be much easier.

 

i know a guy that sprayed his entire pick-up truck with rhino liner,weird.

 

haha, maybe he wants to look weird or unique. There are different choices in here, his was not that acceptable.

I don't want to spray the whole car just under the hood. Something different that will last and will be easy to just hose off.

 

Bad idea... colors fade. You will be adding alot of weight as well. And plus working on it would be hell. The material would build up enough that if you ever had to bolt anything to it. Plus sooner or later an area will fail, and when you need it touched up... there is more liner to add on. Just a bad imo. We have done floors for jeeps, beds, ATV plastics, rockers, boots...ect ect Do ALL your homework before you jump in man

 

My friend rolled on some of that bedliner in the engine bay of his Jeep. It was a PITA to apply because of all the nooks and crannies but and so far it's holding up just fine. He did it about 1.5 years ago too. Clean up with a pressure washer was easy

Give it a try... just make sure you prep the engine bay well, but I'm sure you already know that.

 

[freak] the bedliner... [freak] the rhino liner... Its all about POR15.

Been down this road building several track/drag/offroad cars friends have learned alot. Por15 is nice and glossy. goes on nice even better with a gun. let it cure for about 24/36 hours. and you can drop a hammer on the paint.. it wont chip/crack/peel/ scratch. itll dent before it will chip. stuff is amazing!!

 

WHat product of theirs exactly... I would like to know more

Actually now that you mention it from another project I think I might even have some of that stuff laying around, lol. Didn't even think of using it, good call.

there was a guy on redpepper racing thaat did that and it looked like flat black paint ,looked fine in the pics haha

 

I just did some testing on the battery tray with the spray paint bed liner and over it high temp semi-gloss black. Turned out pretty good. I'll get some pictures up later.
