need help putting 99 gsr motor in a 94 gsr car
i have a 94 gsr b18c1 and i resiantly scared the block really badly. so it time for a new motor i have found a 99 gsr motor for a really good price. the ? is is there any difference in the 94 and 99 motor that i would have to make some changes. like the hardnesses or any other things help would be greatly appericiated
Actually......if you use the engine harness from the new motor, you shouldn't have to do any wiring at all. All the plugs from the engine harness to the chassis harness are the same and have the same pinout, and all the components operate within the same specs.

--- The ecu he would be using is OBD1 and the motor is OBD2. OBD2 is going to have more sensors (for ex. Knock Sensor). I'm pretty sure that would throw a code by itself once his rpm is above idle. Maybe not because his obd1 ecu wouldn't even be looking for the knock sensor to begin with. I'm really not sure now.

Actually, the OBD-1 GSR motor has a knock sensor and the OBD-1 P72 does indeed look for it, but the ECU won't be looking for things like the secondary O2 sensor. There's a very simple logic here: everything you need is already on the motor, anything else doesn't matter.
I've done swaps like this many times in the past. If nothing else, trust me on this one.
EDIT: For anyone else reading this: an ECU can't throw a code for something it wasn't programmed to throw a code for.
