Default ALL MOTOR, breakin in the b-series the right way.

I got my b-series fully built and now I need to break it in. I've read up a lot of different things saying what to do. I'm driving to Minneapolis today and it will be a long trip of breaking it in the right way. So anyone got any sugestions of their own, or maybe have already broke in a high compression b-series before.

Throw up some suggestions, and I'll update with what I did to make it to MN.

Hopefully I will arrive all in one peice.

Highway driving isn't the best for ring seating.

I guess you'll need to do a lot of speeding up and slowing down via engine braking.

To clarify, driving period isn't the best, unless you plan on driving in third gear on and off the gas from 2k to 5k until you get to Minneapolis. Besides Hartford isn't that far away twin cities. Get a tow maybe and break in on dyno?

If the setup isn't tuned yet I wouldn't even drive it around. Break it in on the dyno while being tuned.

I agree go straight to the dyno! if you drive untuned you can risk leaning the motor out or if to rich washing the piston rings out.

i would make sure the engine is ready to go to the dyno before actually going

run the heat cycles and retorque the head
change oil...etc

Should have clarified that I have a map already in the s300 from kingmotorsports for my build. I have been breaking it in going up in speed and engine braking alot. took me about 8 1/2 hours to get to minn. Nothing but back roads. Did an oild change once I got back and it has been running pretty good up til now. The engine is bogging out or something. I give it gas and it doesn't wanna go and then it gets a burst of power and this will continue for awhile. I clean the air senor in the intake and it usually works for a bit, but idk if that is the real problem.

So you broke a built and untuned engine in the wrong way, via your thread about doing it the right way, and now you're having a problem? Park it and fix it before you do any further damage.
