My 97 civic 1.6L has problems going...
My 1997 Honda Civic starts up very good and sounds find...reverse is also good, but when i put it into gear and start going it feels like im stepping on the break, but im not (feels like its going to die, but it doesnt) and then it seems to be find again...like a stop and go motion, then it does it again. 1st thru 3rd is at its worst then 4th is alittle better and 5th doesnt seem to do it much. My thought were on ignition and fuel problem can anyone know what the real cause to this?
Thanks
Thanks
man, it could be SO many things. very hard to diagnose something like this over the 'net.
when is the last time the fuel filter has been replaced? maybe your fuel pump is dying..
ignition would probably show itself in the idle, but who knows.
any MIL's (check engine lights)???
luckily your car is VERY easy to work on. that's why i appreciate the 6th gen and below civics. it's like they were put together by geniuses as opposed to the cluster freaks that came out later on.

How are you calibers? It sounds like one of them could be sticking, but like builthatch said, outside of that, there's tons of things it could be.
Is the engine sputtering, or is it just choppy off the start, as I said, check your calipers, they're probably stuck, happens quite often on all cars with disc brakes, just need to open 'em up with a screwdriver and grease the sliders.

That's a pretty bold statement considering the fact that you didn't ask him any other questions about it and didn't look at it in person.
