i think the white mudflaps look clean. that kind of makes me wonder on how they would look painted ebp on my car. i just picked up a set of flaps and just need to get them mountain

As far as color-matched mud guards it's my own personal opinion that I don't like painted trims that shouldn't be painted. It makes it look like a cheap Maaco paintjob where they never tape anything off and just shoot everything.
I prefer black side moldings, rocker trims, roof rails, mudflaps (if you have them) etc. etc.
No offense intended - it's your car, not mine. Just stating my personal preference because you asked why some people make fun of painted flaps.

I added a set of mudflaps to my 93 CX, because they help keep some chips off rockers and bottoms of doors.
I think they are a great idea.
On my American cars, when I paint them, I coat the rocker areas with rock guard to keep the chipping down.
