Default 5th Gen - No Start

I'm having an intermittent problem with my 01 SH. This has only happened 2x now but has corrected itself each time.

When getting out of work and the car has been sitting all day, I turn the key in the ignition, the dash lights come on, the fuel pump primes, but that's it. The starter doesn't spin. I get no noise or action of any sort from under the hood.

My 2 thoughts are either the starter is bad or the clutch safety switch.

The first time it happened, I wiggled the switch some and the car ended up starting. The last time it happened, messing with the switch did nothing. After about 5 minutes, the car started up and ran just fine.

What are some things I should be checking to pinpoint the problem?

I've had the same issue with my car. Sometimes it just doesn't start and I have to push start it, other times it's perfectly fine. I'll be swapping my starter soon, since that is a good/cheap/easy route.

I had this happen once with a slightly loose negative battery cable; couldn't make enough connection to fire the starter, which has a high current draw. Wiggled the battery cable around a bit and it started right up.

Also check on the ignition switch recall if you haven't had it done yet.

Do you know what the recall or TSB # is for the ignition switch?

Just call honda and tell them your vin number. They will see if the recall has been repair in your car. If not it should be a free repair.
