Failed Cali Emissions
Yes I didn't feel like searching thoroughly because I'm a lazy fella. Anyway I went to smog my 94 GSR today and I failed. Here are the results.
15 MPH: HC = Max: 90 Meas: 55, CO= Max: 0.54 Meas: 0.01 NOx= Max: 711 Meas: 1127 (epic fail)
25 MPH: HC = Max: 56 Meas: 43, CO= Max: 0.53 Meas: 0.01, NOx= Max 754 Meas: 450
I recently got a tune up with NGK platinums, new denso o2 sensor, and oil change. I personally think the cat is still good. Before I smogged it, I ran the car pretty hard. However, as soon as I got back to the smog center, they made it sit for close to an hour before testing it.
Also, another reason I failed was because "PCV Hose disconnected off block." Would this also cause the high NOx?

my thoughts are it's probably the cat, well are you throwing any cel codes?? and last place i got my car smogged at they failed me after i passed, for having a non oem (blue) pcv hose.. i was like are you fvcking kidding me!?!?! fkcin rip off.. so get one on there if you can... make sure it's black too.. just in case
Timing was at 16degrees also. I heard mix things about reducing NOx like getting the car to operating temp ONLY and not warming the cat up like people usually do to reduce HC.

dont listen to these guys... there is a little pink plastic connector on the back of the block beneath the intake manifold, there should be a hose coming off it to the manifold. reconnect it. make sure you go to a smog place when its not busy so you can just leave it running nice and hot ready fro the test.

I just passed smog at a gold state certified smog station here in miramar r.d across from 5 star customs in s.d right down the road from miramar base about 4 months ago! i have a 98'' gsr mild built engine it was tuned on hondata with rc310's a dc 4-1 comptech intake 68mmtb portmatched sk2 im bc3+ cams gready sp2 catback sk2 test pipe jdm itr pistons and a bunch more any way befor i went i put the stock injectors/clips on but still had the aem fuel rail and fpr on!! put a 3'' aem itr cai with new filter put the stock header and cat wired the o2 sensor back in kept the greaddy sp2 on put the stock ecu back in drove a couple hundred miles until the ecu resets it pops a cell but i cleared it at autozone drove a bit more then i smoged and passed i think i passed by 2 or 3% but i passed long story short i passed smogg with a aem fuel rail and fpr on and they diddnt even care or notice at this place and i didnt wait that long i also let my car run while i was waiting
maybe you should try them! try putting on a new air filter basic tune up with an oil change and try there.

I was reading in another thread and someone said to get the car ONLY to operating temp. (Not overheating the cat) It's supposed to keep the NOx low, however the HC might go up.
What do you guys think?

put a 3'' aem itr cai with new filter put the stock header and cat wired the o2 sensor back in kept the greaddy sp2 on put the stock ecu back in drove a couple hundred miles until the ecu resets it pops a cell but i cleared it at autozone drove a bit more then i smoged and passed!!!!!!!!!
did you even read my post before quoting it

I'll be in the mid-west by summer. Hopefully Texas's smog law isn't as harsh as cali's.
