im trying to install my distributor but for some reason it wont go in. i guess its not lining up to the camshaft? am i doing it correctly? or is there anything i could do to make the installation process easier? and after its installed, is there timing that needs to be done to the car, or would the car be all good by itself?

car is a 2000 honda civic dx.

engine is a d16y7 non vtec.

 

the notches are off set to keep you from installing 180* off. Try rotating the dist shaft 180* and trying again
