New NSX-R tested in Germany!!!
Germany's #1 Sportscars magazin "Sport Auto" just tested the new NSX-R against the 320 hp Porsche Carrera... Results: The NSX-R wins in all categories, but check that: the track times at Nuerburgring and Hockenheimring shows the adventage of the "R"... and: it looks like we will soon get the NSX-R to germany's Honda dealers... YES!!! This is definitely my DREAM CAR!!!
...but I would be afraid to see what the 911 Turbo would do to the NSX-R. Does anyone know? I read an article about the new GT2 and it states that it's scary fast! and the handling would scramble your brain. I wonder how the NSX-R would match up to the GT2?

I was at the Porsche dealership this weekend. They had a GT2 on the lot for 179,000 marked SOLD. Wish I had cake like that. The car was sick. Carbon fiber all over the interior.
So we have to wait for the new NSX... V8 Killer Vtec with min. 400 hp - oops, did i just pass a GT2? Let's see if Honda will really produce the Hyper-NSX... they already tested the prototype version against a Ferrari 360 on a german highway -
that was the unofficial race, where the Ferrari crashed into a truck and the passenger died... why the f... do they race on normal streets instead of comparing their cars on a racetrack???

I'm just wondering.. WHY does Honda refuse to use traditional car technologies such as Turbo and V8's?
I mean.. it's great and all to be different and to design your own technologies but sometimes it's better to use the BEST technologies out there.. not necessarily your own.

There are as many allegedly reliable rumors saying the next NSX will have a V-8 as there are saying it won't.
They're all rumors, folks... Nothing is certain until Honda announces it officially.
There's a black GT2 at the porsche dealer I work at, and I recently drove the 996 Twin Turbo last week. All I can say is... FAST. I'll try to get some pictures for you guys.
I have never drove a GT2 or GT3 but i recently drove a C2 and a NSX. I found the nsx to be much more involving. that cockpit view was outstanding. I found the C2 to be a very nice car but the speed did'nt really impress me. I know it is 300hp but it did'nt feel as involving to the driver than say my S2000. Different breeds i guess.

Honda Wary of Building V8 Engine, Chief Engineer Says

By: Norihiko Shirouzu, Staff Reporter of The Wall Street Journal
LOS ANGELES -- A senior Honda Motor Co . executive said the No. 2 Japanese auto maker likely won't build a V8 engine unless it could improve the engine's fuel economy and emissions beyond the industry's norm.
He said one way to address the lack of V8 powertrain options in Honda vehicles may be to create a propulsion system that combines a V6 engine with an electric motor to offer V8-like power.
Tomoyuki Sugiyama, an executive chief engineer of Honda's research arm in Japan , said in an interview here that Honda remains apprehensive about making a V8 engine if it is the kind that guzzles gas.
Some Honda dealers have been asking Honda to offer V8 engines, but the company has insisted that its sales of full-size vehicles aren't large enough to justify a new family of big engines. Other dealers also want Honda to build pickup trucks, a move that could justify developing a V8 engine. Honda admits it has " studied" the possibility of developing pickup trucks, but Yuzuru Matsuno, a Honda spokesman in Detroit , said the auto maker hasn't made a final decision on the possibility. Honda isn't likely to enter the pickup-truck market any time soon, he added.
Mr. Sugiyama said that as a corporate strategy, Honda "tries to put a higher priority on safety and environmental friendliness" over sheer power. "We won't likely develop V8 engines unless we can come up with a technical solution to their fuel economy and emissions" and make them a standout in the industry.
One solution the company is considering, Mr. Sugiyama said, is to try to create a V6 engine that can put out V8-like power, instead of trying to develop a cleaner and more economical V8 powertrain.
"That's one direction we could take," he said.

So there you have it. Very likely the next NSX will NOT have a V8.

Tom Elliott, one of the top Honda executives in the States, has been quoted since that article appeared, indicating that it was issued as a smokescreen, and that there will indeed be a V-8.
Don't believe anything until it's official. It is not yet official.

For right now, I think that there will be no V8, but what Tom Elliott said has given me some hope. I would love the next NSX and RL(Legend) to have a V8. A V8 Honda will kick ***.
The thing is: Porsche build the new carrera GT with a V10, Ferrari's new Enzo (F60) model has a V12 and if Honda wants to stay on top they really need to build a V8 NSX super model...
