jr_deleon's F20b build (2141cc 12.2:1 compression 1.69 r/s ratio)
Well this is m y build. I've seen alot of builds from d series motors to k series. i. however always had an interest in the f20b motor back when i first read an advertisement for Honda swaps back in 2000 (i owned an accord back then). but now i have an eg hatch and have an h2b kit (qsd) and will put this motor in hopefully by the end of September. but before i planned on putting it in i got a little tempted. i decided to build the motor up. now don't bother telling me things like why i stuck with the f20 crank or whats cheaper and more expensive. plus there are plenty of guys and gals wondering what an internally built F20b would be like, if they haven't seen one already. And with the rod stroke ratio of 1.69 with the longer eagle rods, squared out motor (its a big 2.1 at 2141cc its only a tad smaller than an H22), should do nicely.

Host the pics on photobucket if you want others to see them.
Yeap, it's your build. I think everyone is aware of that. If you don't want comments good or bad then don't post on a public forum.

hold on homie. im trying to keep out the little kid questions. comments are cool but just those obviously posted answers some people seem to still want to ask questions about. its part of the reason i hardly post i read. dont want any arguing like ive been reading for the last two years over the net. Im merely posting my build cause i havent read an all motor f20b build and to post its results. its for inquiring minds.
a few f20b users who've posted got the same questions like why are you using it or why not an h22. Ive had an h22 before and wanted this motor cause its not one you read about everyday. plus it was once a trashed motor i got for 500 bones.

This forum runs the gambit from beginners to very experienced engine builders. Most, if not all care about the build and the results.
F20b's are an interesting motor. I look forward to updates and the results.
Please host the pics on photobucket, especially the custom piston.
So others can see them.

pics up. i didnt get a supreme close up of the pistons or the rods. The rods oddly enough are eagle ls rods, the universal ones that are 5.862". Pistons use the .826" wrist pins and the piston was designed by cp and race engineering to work with the stock stroke. it was either that or buy both custom pistons and have custom rods made

Is this build from the future? It looks like the pics were taken on 8/08/2177. I think this engine will run from oil that will be found on the moon and gasoline produced from sunflower seeds. Subscribed, in for results!
i know i know jerk lol! you see, this is what happens when your kid brother programs the camera. in 2177 gas will be well around 40 dollars a gallon. mikey youre such a joker arent you

i dont know why everyone hates on the f20b
it's r/s ratio tells me that it will make more hp in the upper rpms than a h22 would
what are you going to rev this motor to anyway?
i know tq is needed and thats why the h23vtec is used so much
but theres something about a high rpm screamer, i congrats you on this build i thinks its sweet

as for rpms i dont know how high. as long as it makes power up there everyone
knows the f20b revs up there, so i mean we'll see how far it go
as for torque since the motor is actually 2141cc vs the stock f20b's 1998cc it could make some decent torque and its going oon a civic so im good on torque.

why didnt you use an h22 head? they have bigger valves.
since you went with an 88mm bore there is no reason not to take advantage of that. the f20b has small valves because of the small bore.

for one i didnt have one. and two, because the builder suggested using the small valve head so there is a wide range of adjustments he can make on the cam gears since there would be less chance of anything touching. the builder, mikeyspec, is extremely knowledgable so i trust him more than anyone so we should be ok.
To be honest if i would've had it my way we would've had an h22 head done up. In the sequence of events it didnt work out. The original build called for an oem bore w/ custom pistons. The dome/reliefs would've been unshapely for the original 85mm bore. The f20b head that he already had was supposedly already being done up by the time we re-routed the build for a larger piston. Also when we almost decided to go h22 head(since we were going to redesign the pistons anyhow) we were getting bullshitted on what was going on with his f20 head. It was in IBspec's hands for roughly a year. They claimed that it was already done and ready to ship at the time when in reality it was untouched and wouldnt ship for another 3-4 months. Had we known the truth that the head wasnt touched yet we would've definitely gone for the larger valved h22 head.
I still feel that this setup will bring out some potential and should have intresting reults when done. Its very much like a small h22 with some large b-series traits.

its not going to hurt all that much, but bigger valves just add potential.
the long rod will help get the most out of the small valves though.
IDK if you have built one of these before, but watch out for the oil pickup, the pan and pickup are different than h22 stuff, so make sure you use the right stuff together.. i found out the hard way
i was in the process of building an f20b but it kind of waded its way to the back burner. i was going to use the eagle 5.9xx inch rods. they didnt have the 5.862 inch rods back then.
should be a sweet motor.

i appreciate all of you guys' inputs. thank you very much. im sure ima have fun with it since its being built properly. its in great hands so im sure she'll do fine. ill even see about putting up a dyno clip when its all said and done
here some pics of the manifold. ill get more pics up of other parts soon. i got everything i need, just that school is in so time is lacking.
shes a euro r manifold ported up by blueprint manufacturing. 68mm TB and the iac relocator from rosko and not pictured are precision 525cc injectors (orignally was going to use rdx injectors) and the fuel rail (well i mean we all know what they look like dont we lol)

thanks for the cool build comment <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by ZeroTraction »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">You're using h22 pro2's right?</TD></TR></TABLE> yes skunk2 pro2s are the cam of choice for this build per my builder. it will see track time but it also will be used on the street. but not all the time only when im bored, but no street racing.
