car tend to overheat at a stand still
only happens when the car was driven for a while

when i let the car warm up, its normal
and when i drive it for a while..i see it starting to creep up on a stop

but when its on the freeway or anything its normal

i have a integra full size radiator.
im not running a overflow tank.
thermostat was changed.

it starts to overheat but when i push on the gas pedal, it goes back to normal.
i guess it opens up the thermostat when i hit the gas.

the fan works.
there is NO white smoke comming from the tail pipe.

what else can be the source of a overheating issue?

car is a 95 civic with a b18c1

 

thermo unit?? or temperature sensor?? same problem with mine...my fan would kick in but not all the time when it was supposed to...once replaced, i think i hear it turn on like every dead stop i make now haha...if yur still overheating check yur fluids incase you might be leaking or burning unnoticeably...come on we gota get these problems fixed before track night!!!

 

did you use a OEM thermostat? If not change it out.

Also there is the sensor on the back side of the thermostat housing. Those are common to go out on honda/acura.

 

Id change the thermostat out for an oem thermo. Then change that fan switch. Also, check your coolant, and if its low, then fill it and bleed it. Sometimes bubbles will cause it to overheat

 

I've dealt with this same exact problem since I first got my 94 EH2.

My cooling fan does kick on, but after the engine already overheats (3/4 on temp gauge). I've changed the thermostat, didn't stop the problem. I've also tried all the little steps like bleeding the coolant and checking for leaks, replacing the radiator cap, checking fuses and the cooling fan relay. None of these were the cause.

Only thing I haven't tried is replacing the Thermoswitch (located on the thermostat housing), which I plan on replacing soon. I'll report back with my results.

 

the thermoswitch didn't do jack, will be replacing my headgasket soon.
