how much is too far when advancing timing?

Default how much is too far when advancing timing?

i advanced my timing and my distributor is all the way towards the firewall(advanced), i dont hear any ping or detonation, but is this bad for my car?


how do u tell if its pinging or detonation? what r the signs?

That sounds like too much. Get a timing light and set it to about 10 degrees. That is the most that I would recommend.
