mystery noise coming from rear suspension
Now i know it's next to impossible to diagnose or even explain a strange noise, car wise, via text on a forum so bear with me. my setup is
00 Civic EX (no anti-lock)
Tein S-Techs
Tokico Illuminas
Blox LCAs
Before doing all that i had a squeak in my rear suspension that i assumed was from the rear trailing arms (my 95 Civic EX did the same thing). Now i have an interesting knock that coincides with the movement (rebound from what i can determine, but take that with a grain of salt) of my struts. The existing squeak is still there and is heard along with the knock but not always. I'm thinking it's possibly my strut mounts. Any ideas?

do you have a sway bar? If you do it could very well be that the ball joint connector that holds it on snapped off your LCA. My car made that noise and it was because of that.
If not, check and make sure everything is tightened down properly. If that's not the case then it may be that the little clunk noise was the spring re-seating itself in the cup because that happens sometimes, even with springs that don't lower your car all that much because the shock shaft on the illuminas I believe will extend to or almost to the stock length, so the shock shaft exceeds the full height of your springs and the springs will clunk as the car comes back down on top of the spring and "re-seats" it. This usually happens when turning into a ramped up parking lot or something. If that is the case, don't worry about it but if you do, get some tophats for your shocks.

well as stated, i'm pretty positive the squeak is coming from the trailing arm, but the knock is blatantly in my strut/spring area. even when i bounce the car by hand i can hear it and there's clearly more movement with my rear suspension especially on the passengers side than in the front. even with the struts set to the same stiffness. and for the record i'm 100% positive the struts are in perfect working order and the springs aren't broken.
The popping noise is constant, it just doesnt always coincide with the squeaking i got going on. Which leads me to believe its seperate from the trailing arm

yes. it's been doing it since. meaning did not do it before. and for the last time it's not the god damn trailing arm bushings lol. yes damper bolts are tight. isolators i'm probably going to be replacing with energy polyurethane in a week or 2, so i'll know then i guess

if it.s been doin it since uve had em then it would seem to be that the spring doesnt match the shockbody. .so ur spring is makin that plunging/pooping noise i would guess. .that would be cuz of the spring moving or tryin to seat rite.
