how difficult is it to re-build a si tranny?
i 91 crx si tranny has bad syncros and worn bearings. i found a re-build kit for 150.00 bucks. how difficult of a job is it to re-build it and how long do you think it will take.
have you tried changing your tranny fluid..? takes the grinds right out of these things.
other wise i can t answer your question. i dont elieve it is too hard besides getting the tranny out of the car

tearing apart the tranny isn't too bad...you need time, patience, organization and a shop manual. i've torn mine apart like 20+ times, so just ask if you have specific questions.
i'm currently rebuilding one. here's a couple tips:
1.use honda mtf first to try and get rid of the grinds. mtf is NOT just some relabled oil
2.buy a helm's before you even try
3.don't forget you need to expand the snapring as you're pulling hte tranny apart
4.getting the halves seperated is a b!tch, try using the scissor jack out of your car to pop them apart
5.if you're replacing the bearings in the case, have a tranny shop pull them out of the case for you
6.cleanliness is next to godliness, especially when you're reassembling your tranny
7.go slow, take your time, use the right tools
