Default starter question

i just finnished putting my new boost project in. i used a y8 with a cx s20 trans. i got it all put in my car ready to start an found out that my starter wasnt working, finally got it working to find out that it doesnt engage. i used the ex starter i had in my car, is there a diffrence between the ex an the cx starter?

If it doesn't engage I would check to see that the starter soliniod is working. I don't think that there is a difference in the ex and cx trannies besides the gear ratio. I mean they are both designed to engage the same D16 flywheel.
