Default A little fuel problem.

I'm sure something is going on with the fuel pump. when I prime the pump 3 or more times the car will start and run for 5mins. Then it will start bogging, when I press on the throttle and it boggs harder and dies.

I started chasing the problem, changed the fuel filter, took a look at the fuel pressure regulator and took the cap off of it and the tiny screw in the middle of it was off.
I put it back on and still it ran for 5 mins after I primed it then it died.

I listened to the fuel pump when the car was running and every time the car would bogg, the pump would sound weaker. I pulled the pump out and put some power to it and it ran. Could it be a relay problem. Or just my pump giving out?

Thanks in advance.

its fuel injected. By primming it, i mean i would turn the key till the pump will prime. it's a 88 si.

a pic of the engine bay.

A helms manual will describe these tests properly.
Try to test the fuel pressure at the fuel rail and see if it maintains pressure. Next try to test if the pump is supplying enough volume of fuel to the injectors. It could be weak electrical supply to the fuel pump which can also be tested and check main relay. Maybe the pump is just slowly dying.

This is a shot in the dark, but if it passes these tests, I have had an issue in the past with a weak ignition coil, that exhibited similar symptoms. A weak coil could produce a weak spark which gets weaker as the ignition coil heats up. When you push the gas pedal, it sends more fuel (normal) but the weak spark cannot ignite that much fuel properly. hope this helps

thank you gringo. That's a good starting point. What dose it mean on the ecu if it has no light at all?
