speedometer problem any help is helpfull

Default speedometer problem any help is helpfull

i have an 88 crx si stock d16a6

when i hit the has no mater if its hard or crusing it, my mph nidle goes up and down, does not read correctly and when i let go of the gas they drop all the way to zero no mater how fast im going.

i could be going 80 then let go of the gas and they go to zero, then the moment i touch the gas pedle they go back up and down always around the 55mph.

ANY HELP IS GLADLY APPRECEATED.

I can only think of 3 things to check

1 the connection to the transmission
2 the cable
3 the speedometer

one of the 3 are bad. I'm thinking the cable is somehow broken and only spins the rest of the cable with the help of more power from the motor.

Sounds plausible!

The inner cable may be broken, or binding in the outer cable jack.


Now my Speedometer squeaks are 30mph+... how do I 'lube' the cluster without having oil spit all over the inside of the cluster? I am going to try and cable lube the cable first....

HOW CAN IT BE A WIRING PROBLEM IF ITS A CABLE GOING INTO THE TRANSMISSION?

I KNOW HOW DO TO ALL THIS IVE CHANGED THE TRANY OIL

IVE REGREASED THE CABLE

IVE DONE EVERYTHING POSIBLE AND NOTHING FIXES IT

IM THINKING IT MIGHT BE SOMETHING INSIDE THE TRANY

STILL THNX FOR ALL THE HELP GUYS
