Currently I have a SOHC ZC in my 90 CRX SI and I have a d16y8 long block laying around my house. So far I've read that the two motors are almost similar but I'm not quite sure because I've been hearing different information from lots of people. Does anyone know if it'll make any difference if I swapped the two motors? I was wondering if the swap would be worth it and if I would feel more power with the y8. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.
use the head ff the Y8, the block from it is garbage! Y8 head has a square looking combustion chamber unlike the a6 and z6. this will give you slightly higher compression.
from here you have a couple options, run the a6 dizzy and stay OBD0 and figure out how to activate vtec or convert to OBD1 and run a p28 ecu along with the correct Dizzy.
both should be fun. if you are really hard core. Open up your a6 block and take out the rods and install some 88-89 integra slugs and piston along with a homemade ITB set up. It should be fun!
look here for ITB info
