Default I fixed snapped timing belt...now tach needle bouncing !!

i was about to take my car to the shop to get it painted when all of sudden the motor dies. so i push it back to my house and check the belt cover, sure enough it was the timing belt. after the marks aligning and double checking, i get in and the motor starts and idles but the tach doesn't stay still it just bounces up and down. can anyone help me ??!! its still a 1.5L...if that even matters

hmm, if your idle is ok then an erratic tach is a sign of a bad ignitor in the dizzy. i got a replacement for mine at a total cost of 34 bucks.

rexb16 is right, if the tach is bouncing its usually the igniter. trying tightening up the connections on the dist. first before buying a new ignitor.

I've seen this happen numous times over the years. The tach wire loosens and people replace the ignitor instead of just checking the wires. Tripple check the wires before buying anything. This even happened on my GirlFriend's Si once, and I almost bought the ingnitor.
