I'm sure you'd wax "the civic" just as often as any other car you might care about

Take into consideration that I'm very very ****, but I try to wax my car every 2-3 weeks, and clay it every two months. During the winter, I clayed it more often.

I like to wax my car every 3-4 months then Polish it after 1 week. Don't know but it works on my car.

I have been waxing every other week but using quick waxy between waxing. I suppose I have been over doing it a bit.

like most people here. wax once a month clay once every 3.

I never clayed any car except for my SI. I gotta say it makes a world of a difference. It's amazing what the little bar takes off.

I honestly thought it was before I tried it myself. And...man what a difference.

Also, I use the Mother's PowerBall for Paint to apply my wax. It makes it so much easier, it goes faster and applies a more even, thorough coat of wax. And, it cleans up like brand new with some dish soap and water after every use (like the instructions say). I very highly recommend it.

It lifts tiny particles of dirt, grime, sand, etc. that you can't see on your paint. If you run your finger lightly across your paint, even after it was just washed, you will be able to feel little bumps everywhere. The clay bar removes all of those bumps. Those contaminants, are things that you could potentially drag across your paint, causing light scratches, swirl marks, and other unsightly blemishes. I highly recommend using a clay bar. You won't believe your eyes. A simple before and after comparison in sunlight, will seal the deal.

You can buy this kit pretty much anywhere: http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/...G1016

If you like the results, I highly recommend buying the clay in bulk from here:
http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/...C2000&. I can't find that in stores but I still have my first container of it. It lasts a while. When used with http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/...ction it works wonders. Buying in bulk will save you money in the long run.

Couldn't you get your car professionally detailed and wouldn't they do this service?

or is this a ON YOUR OWN type of thing to do... ?

You COULD, but you save a lot of money taking care of your car yourself. Also, you have piece of mind not having to worry about a stranger driving/working on your car. Last, you get the satisfaction of seeing the results after you did it yourself. It takes some time, but it is very easy.

You can never get the attention to detail unless paying high enough. Claybar can also remove the little rust spots before they become a huge problem.

Maybe it's too early in the morning, but this statement confuses me. Are you saying you will only get the best results from paying someone a lot of money?

That made absolutely NO sense.

ok let me rephrase myself, you can never get your car cleaned and waxed completely unless you paying high enough? Does that make sense? No? Let me try again, if you are not paying for a pro, you'll never get the attention to detail job? Still no? Well, can't do any better than that. I guess if you were never in the military you wouldn't know what I'm talking about.

He is saying you will never get the attention to detail you get by doing it yourself if you pay someone else UNLESS you pay TONS of money.
