Default Need a sealant of some sort to seal off brake line leak.

So I have the ABS gSR mc and 1 of the holes are bigger, I took the civic brake line, cut it, took the old screw out, and put a 12mm one in, flared it and i put it in, It leaks from it, I need some sealant, maybe honda bond? jb weld? or something that is safe around brake fluid that will seal it off. any input is appreciated.

bump,, really desperate. anything, does anyone think jb weld will hold up to the pressure and not deteriate from the brake fluid? I just need a temp fix. something thatll hold for a yearish or something. I will find an rs booster and mc while im waiting.

DUDE, DO NOT USE ANY KIND OF CHEMICAL TO TRY TO REPAIR A BRAKE FLUID LEAK.
Brake pressure is too high and brake fluid eats through everything.

Take the line apart and re-flare it. Do it right, brakes are not something you want to be mickey mousing with.

if the new fitting is larger then no its not gonna seal, no amount of flaring is going to fix this, and sealant, thats just unsafe, get the right size tubing, even if its only a foot of it, put another fitting on the other end, get a reducing coupler and then use the smaller fitting on the other line going into it. All this aside I assume your doing a rear disc swap on a civic? You could have just used a '91 EX MC and then everything would have just bolted up.

yeah, I got the abs gsr one for deals. and the 91 ex mc is kinda hard to come by. I'll be looking for an rs mc. Do you know where i can get the conversion things to make the 10mm screw go into the 12mm hole? I've checked a couple of stores and they didnt have anything thatll work, including schucks, home depot, and b&b.

I think maybe you misunderstood, run a short length of brake line from the MC, then use a coupler that has a 10mm inlet on one side and a 12mm outlet on the other and run the brake line into the coupler, kinda like the coupler on the firewall for the clutch hardline. That actually might work for this if you can find one, it goes from a 10mm fitting to 12mm.

hmm, the hardest part of it all is finding one.

btw, do you happen to know the thread sizes? I'll have better luck finding it online.

Not right off the top of my head, get a thread pitch gauge and check, i don't think they're all that much.

You shouldn't be messing with mix-n-match brake parts if you want to stay alive, but if you insist you need a 12 to 10mm male/female reducing adapter from a brake parts specialist supplier. Then put the correct 10mm end back on the line.

IT'S YOUR LIFE ...........
fyi ... BRAKE LINES HAVE OVER 1000PSI IN EM, RUBBER HOSES/DUCT TAPE AND GLUE JUST AIN'T IN THE EQUATION.

oR . DO IT RIGHT .............

yup, direct bolt up, don't forget to bench bleed it first or you'll never get it to pump fluid.
You can find used stuff, but I wouldn't go that route with brakes.
I see yah just bought it ????
